How to take care of your jewelry
Are you worried that your jewelry will spoil and lose value over time?
A jewel is continuously in contact with air pollutants, dust, sweat, perfumes… Over time, these elements can alter the appearance of metal or gemstones.
M·BOSCH parts are designed to keep up with you, but you should keep in mind that they are handmade and need proper maintenance.
If you follow these simple instructions, they will retain their original feel and shine. You will see that no special tools or techniques are necessary to do effective maintenance.
This is what we recommend from our workshop.
JEWELS IN EVERYDAY LIFE
We advise you not to wear jewelry while doing activities that may put them in contact with creams or lotions. Particles from cosmetics, which are not removed with quick rinsing, can lead to metal discoloration or skin irritations.
With gemstones and pearls special care must be taken, as they can spoil when they come into contact with some chemical elements.
If you have to put on creams or perfumes, it is better to do it before you put on the jewel.
In all cases, we advise you to keep the jewel in the bag or box you received when you bought it. This way you will avoid possible blows or that they stick with other jewels.
DOMESTIC CLEANING OF YOUR JEWELRY
To clean your jewelry, just dip it between 3 and 5 minutes in a glass with water and a little bit of dish soap.
Then, rub gently with a soft hair toothbrush and rinse with a little hot water to remove the detergent.
Finally, you can dry them delicately with a soft, hairless cloth.
We advise against using ultrasonic cleaners, vaporizers or other "homemade" jewelry cleaning chemicals (such as bleach, ammonia, or baking soda) as they can damage gemstones or pearls.
Unlike gold, everyday elements such as sulfur, chlorine or sweat can be adhered to in silver.
To clean a silver jewel you will need a soft cotton cloth with a little soap that washes dishes diluted in water. Brush the piece always in the same direction and avoiding circular movements.
We do not recommend that you use silver polishers or immersion cleaning solutions.
We want your jewelry to be just a cause for joy. That is why we advise you to take them regularly to our jewelry store to perform maintenance and check their condition.
In this way, in the long run you will avoid more expensive repairs.
